"My work has always been dominated by colour and movement. I want to capture a moment in time, a feeling, the essence of someone or something. I want the effect to be striking, powerful and dynamic; both alive with movement and given space to breathe."
I was born in Perth, Scotland. After studying History of Art at St Andrews University, I spent much of my time travelling, until 2004 when I trained in Fine Art at Santa Monica College, Los Angeles. Shortly after I exhibited my first solo exhibition at the Karen Lynne Gallery, Beverly Hills.
Horse Racing and Polo
I love horses and I absolutely love a day at the races. There is nothing more exhilarating than the feeling of a horse thundering past. I have exhibited both racing and polo paintings at Bonhams, various galleries around the UK and many of my paintings can be found in private collections in Europe, Asia, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
Abstract and Sport
In 2012, I moved to Barcelona where I exhibited my first solo exhibition in Spain at the Geston Ideas Gallery. It was here I first ventured more into the world of abstract. My follow up 'Stepping' exhibition in the A and D gallery, London, shows a further natural progression to the world of abstract through a continued exploration of light, atmosphere and movement. This exploration was a definite stepping stone to my new sporting series painted on raw linen.
I am currently based in London and delighted to be represented by Thompson's Galleries, Marylebone and Fraser Gallery St Andrews. It is here I continue to work on and explore my new Sports Series on raw linen. Having always loved sport and been obsessed with everything from snooker to kitesurfing, trying to capture a moment in sport is the ultimate challenge for me. Sport unites and bonds families, friends, communities and nations. It continues to inspire me like nothing else.
